Mobilistaion is the movement of a joint within its normal range of motion. It can involve traction or stretching, small gliding movements between joint surfaces or movements of larger amplitude.
Manipulation is the movement of a joint past its normal range of motion with a controlled thrust being applied. Usually a click is heard during this technique.

Generally manual therapy should be comfortable. At times your physioptherapist may need to work into the pain but it is important that you let your therapist know what you are feeling.
During and after treatment, pain should not worsen, be excessive or on-going. Let your physiotherapist know immediately if you are extremely uncomfortable or your pain worsens during or after one of these techniques is used.
