What is Lymphatic Dysfunction? Lymph is a clear fluid that circulates throughout the body. It cleans away dead cells, bacteria and toxins. The Lymphatic system collects, filters out and gathers up unnecessary waste that we accumulate in our bodies through our day to day living. It is the key to a healthy immune system. For lymph to move around our body its pathway, through lymph vessels, must be kept clear and free flowing to work efficiently. If the pathway becomes narrow, flow can become sluggish and this creates a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and disease to grow. This can also cause lymph fluid to remain stagnant in problem areas which may encourage inflammation and pain. Further, when the lymphatic system becomes blocked it fails to remove the body's toxins and lowers our immunity to infection.

Unlike the blood system, that has the heart for a pump, the Lymphatic system has no pump to help Lymph fluid move around the body. Some day to day activities promote Lymph fluid movement and regular exercise is very good for the Lymphatic system. However, congestion may occur in areas as a result of toxic overload, lack of exercise, improper diet, infection or injury. Congestion is what causes inflammation and soreness.
Lymphatic drainage helps to clear the capillaries and gets the Lymph fluid moving again, flushing out those areas where it may be sitting stagnant in your system. Once the Lymphatic system is working at full capacity toxins and bacteria will be removed from your body efficiently, making it easier for you to stay well. A good Lymphatic system also promotes health in other systems as well, such as the respiratory, muscular, circulatory and endocrine systems.
We believe that Lymphatic drainage therapy can also reduce and prevent:
-
Colds and other viruses
-
Ear infections
-
Sinusitis, conjunctivitis and blepharitis
-
Bronchitis and pneumonia
-
Urinary tract infections
-
Menstrual cramps
